Multi-Tasking

I recently started to read a book where my first impression was that I did not agree with the author’s premises.

One premise is that multi-tasking is ineffective.  You need to concentrate one task at a time.  For a person that prides himself on multi-tasking, I was taken aback.  Yet, as I thought about, I am not sure that my past behavior was most effective.

I know of a major accounting firm that has “deep processing areas,” to work on complex problems.  A well-known author advocates “deep” processing time.”

I have started to stop multi-tasking when I can and my conclusion is that there is merit to the premise.
