Network Security – 2021

Network Security covers the hardware, software, and data that is on a network.

  • Recognizing sensitive data (more on this later).
  • The use of Duo Dual-Factor Authentication (DFA) when accessing the network remotely (more about that later).
  • Keeping your devices updated with the most up-to-date patches.
    • This is mostly automated but users should be aware of it.
  • Using complex Network passwords (Our standard is a minimum of 8 characters and 3 of the 4 (a-z, A-Z, 0-9, and the use of special characters such as (@$^%#)).
  • Using secure passwords on services like App Store (iOS devices) and Google Play (Android).
  • Basic knowledge of how applications work.
  • Be careful when using Public Wi-Fi, what you transmit might not be encrypted.
  • Being familiar with Phishing, Viruses, Malware, and Trojan Horses.
